According to the Institutional Investor Magazine’s 2004 Asia Investor Relations rankings, Mr.Chanin Vongkusolkit, Banpu CEO, together with Mrs.Somruedee Chaimongkol, SVP – Finance, were voted by sell-side analysts and investment professionals as the ‘Asia’s Best CEO and CFO’ in the metals and mining industry. The rankings were listed according to the views of 227 investors in 23 Asian firms, who based their evaluation on the primary criteria of investor relations effectiveness, which consists of transparency and quality of financial reporting; information disclosure; access to senior management; provision of industry information; as well as the clarity, depth and speed in response to inquiries.
Banpu was awarded the ‘Best Corporate Governance Report’ Award at the SET Awards 2004, co-organized by The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and the Money and Banking Magazine. The award was given to recognize Thai listed companies that excelled in reporting their compliance with the SET’s 15 corporate governance principles, by taking into consideration the annual registration statements (Form 56-1), annual reports, invitation letters to shareholders’ meetings, and minutes of shareholders’ annual general meetings.
Banpu was selected one of the Top 85 Listed Companies with Outstanding Corporate Governance, according to a corporate governance survey organized by the Thai Institute of Directors Association (IOD in collaboration with The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand (SEC). The award was given to companies qualifying in five major criteria: shareholders’ rights, equitable treatment of shareholders, roles of stakeholders, disclosure and transparency, and the Board’s responsibilities. Information used in the IOD’s assessment comes from annual reports, annual registration statements (Form 56-1), invitation letters to shareholders’ meetings, minutes of the shareholders’ meetings, the company’s website, corporate information disseminated through the SET and the SEC, as well as other information released to the general public.
Banpu was named one of the Top Five Thai Listed Companies for Outstanding Information Disclosure by Standard & Poor’s (S&P) Governance Services and the Corporate Governance and Financial Reporting Centre. Among the Stock Exchange of Thailand’s 50 listed companies included in the S&P’s study group, Banpu was recognized for its outstanding disclosure of corporate governance information. The study, conducted by S&P’s Governance Services, evaluates good corporate governance principles based on the latest information disclosed in each company’s annual report.
Banpu was awarded as one of Thailand’s Best Companies in Finance Asia Magazine’s ‘2004 Asia’s Best Companies’ poll under the following five categories:
  • The 2nd Best CFO
  • The 3rd Best Corporate Governance Company
  • The 3rd Most Committed Company to Strong Dividend Policy
  • The 7th Best Managed Company
  • The 7th Best Investor Relations Company
