Banpu was ranked 6th on the Top 10 List of ‘The Best Public Companies of the Year 2009’ by Money & Banking Magazine, based on the business analysis (as of the year-end 2008) of the top 200 listed companies with the highest market capitalization in The Stock Exchange of Thailand and the 49 listed companies on the Market for Alternative Investment (MAI).
According to ‘CG Watch Thailand’ - a report conducted jointly by the Asian Corporate Governance Association (ACGA) and the CLSA Asia-Pacific Markets, Asia’s leading independent brokerage and investment group; Banpu was ranked one of the ‘2009 Top Three Listed Companies in Thailand with the Highest CG Scores’ and was also among the five Thai listed companies receiving the ‘2009 Most Improved CG Score’.
Banpu was awarded as one of Thailand’s Best Companies in Finance Asia Magazine’s ‘2009 Asia’s Best Companies’ poll under the following four categories:
  • The 3rd Best CEO
  • The 3rd Best CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility)
  • The 3rd Best Corporate Governance Company
  • The 4th Best Managed Company
Mr.Chanin Vongkusolkit, Banpu CEO, was bestowed the “Thailand Top 100 HR Award 2009” in the CEO category from the Human Resources Institute of Thammasat University, in recognition of his outstanding work on human resources management and development.
Banpu was awarded as “The Most Favorite Listed Company” by Thailand’s Securities Analysts Association, based on the votes of securities analysts and fund managers on the criteria related to information disclosure, access to top management, and information channel for analysts. On the same occasion, Mr. Virach Makaranithiroj, the Company’s Investor Relations Manager, was also named “The Most Favorite IR Manager” in the energy and petrochemical category.

Banpu was awarded the ‘2008/09 Board of the Year for Distinctive Practices’ and ‘Audit Committee of the Year’. The Awards were jointly established by the Sub-Committee on Corporate Governance in Thailand, the Thai Institute of Directors Association (IOD), the Board of Trade of Thailand, The Federation of Thai Industries, The Thai Bankers' Association, Thai Listed Companies Association, Federation of Thai Capital Market Organizations, and The Stock Exchange of Thailand, to honor boards of directors of Thai listed companies that distinguish themselves in performing in accordance with good corporate governance principles.
Banpu was ranked one of the Top 52 Listed Companies with Excellent Corporate Governance Scoring, according to the Corporate Governance Report of Thai Listed Companies 2009. The Report was developed by the Thai Institute of Directors Association (IOD), in collaboration with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Thailand (SEC) and The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET).
